Economies of Scale, 2013 – Economies of Scale is a metaphorical timeline

Economies of Scale, 2013 – Economies of Scale is a metaphorical timeline that alludes to the accelerating rate of plastic pollution worldwide. The sculpture draws the eye from a tiny nurdle (a preproduction plastic pellet) to a large Japanese fishing buoy, a remnant of tsunami drift.
Unmoored from its original place and time, each object becomes an artifact whose history we are tempted to reconstruct. The beguiling shadows remind us that our dependence on non-biodegradable plastic products will cast a long ecological shadow well beyond our lifetime.
